BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Pirapan Salirathavibhaga met with Mexican Ambassador Ilse Lilián Ferrer Silva to advance bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister praised the Ambassador’s active role in strengthening relations since her appointment. He highlighted the smooth and close ties between the two nations, noting cultural similarities such as unique cultural roots and a shared fondness for spicy food, which has seen Mexican cuisine gain popularity in Thailand.

The Mexican Ambassador stated that the meeting was an excellent opportunity to promote collaboration in various fields. These include gender equality, disaster management exchanges related to earthquakes, science, the environment, and sustainable development. She emphasized that this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, presenting a key moment to enhance ties, particularly in the transition to clean energy, where Mexico is a global leader.

Both sides agreed to support coordination between their respective energy ministries, focusing on clean energy. The Ambassador presented the “Sonora Plan,” a development project in northern Mexico.
