Thailand activates emergency measures for nationals in Israel amid escalating Iran conflict

Minister Phiphat confirms urgent government action, including halting new worker deployments to Israel and coordinating shelter plans for Thai nationals amid rising regional tensions.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai government has announced a series of safety measures for Thai nationals in Israel in response to the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. Following reports of Israeli strikes on Tehran on June 13, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra directed the Ministry of Labor to coordinate with employers to prepare shelter areas for Thai workers. According to Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the Prime Minister also instructed recruitment agencies to temporarily suspend the deployment of new Thai workers to Israel and advised Thai citizens in the region to avoid high-risk areas.



The Prime Minister, on June 14, ordered the establishment of a multi-agency task force ready to carry out emergency evacuations if the situation deteriorates. The Thai embassies in Tehran and Tel Aviv were instructed to maintain close contact with Thai nationals and provide real-time updates. As of June 15, there have been no reports of Thai casualties, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Also on June 14, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched a Rapid Response Center in coordination with the Ministry of Defense to assist Thai nationals in affected areas. Thai embassies and consulates across the Middle East were placed on high alert. Officials urged Thai citizens to register via the Thai Consular app and remain in close communication with embassy personnel through official channels.

Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa convened an emergency meeting on June 14 to assess risks and review evacuation planning. The Ministry confirmed that evacuation protocols are fully operational and embassies are ready to provide assistance. Thai nationals were again advised to avoid unnecessary travel and to follow safety advisories.

In a statement issued on June 15, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern over the growing tensions and called for restraint on all sides to prevent harm to civilians. Thailand reaffirmed its support for peaceful dialogue in accordance with international law and the UN Charter. Government agencies remain on alert to ensure the safety of Thai citizens abroad. (NNT)
