Thai Universities shine in 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, with five in global Top 100

From gender equality to clean water solutions, Thai universities lead the way in global sustainable development efforts, showcasing strong progress toward the UN’s SDGs.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Times Higher Education (THE) has released its 2025 Impact Rankings, which capture 2,526 universities from 130 countries and territories based on their progress toward the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As for Thailand, five universities are rated among the top 100 universities globally, as follows:

– Chulalongkorn University and Chiang Mai University tied for 44th with an overall score of 92.7;
– Mahidol University and Thammasat University, 64th place with a score of 91.3;
– Walailak University, 93rd place with a score of 89.7.



When we examine the rankings on individual SDGs, Thai universities were given high recognition:

– Walailak University took first place for “gender equality”;
– Mahidol University, third for “good health and well-being”;
– Chiang Mai University, 17th for “quality education”;
– Asian Institute of Technology, 18th for “zero hunger”;
– Prince of Songkla University, 32nd for “no poverty”;
– King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, 44th for “clean water and sanitation”.

Thai universities’ rankings demonstrate their commitment to addressing the world’s most pressing challenges, including environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth, and partnerships. (PRD)
