Over 34,000 fake cosmetic products worth 4.36 million baht were seized by Thai police during coordinated raids on five Bangkok properties linked to a long-running Chinese-financed operation.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Thai police have raided five properties in Bangkok connected to a Chinese-backed network accused of distributing counterfeit cosmetics, seizing more than 34,000 fake products worth over 4.36 million baht. The raids, led by the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD), targeted four warehouses and one private residence used to store and repackage unregistered cosmetic goods.

The operation followed a previous raid in March, which uncovered illegally sold cosmetics linked to a Thai distributor. Further investigation traced the supply chain to a Chinese national believed to be the financier behind the operation. Authorities said the suspect had imported uncertified goods into Thailand, where they were falsely marketed as high-quality products for both retail and wholesale markets.

Authorities found that the group had leased multiple storage facilities to avoid detection and had been operating the distribution scheme for at least three years. Financial transactions were allegedly carried out through mule bank accounts registered under Cambodian nationals to conceal the network’s funding sources and scale.

The seized products included a range of cosmetic items that are now under review by the CPPD as evidence. Legal action is being taken against those involved for violations under the Cosmetics Act B.E. 2558 (2015), including the sale of unregistered goods and the distribution of products without required Thai-language labeling.

The counterfeit goods, stored in warehouses and a private residence, were repackaged and sold without proper registration or Thai-language labels, violating the Cosmetics Act B.E. 2558.
