BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has reassigned ministerial duties to maintain continuity in government operations. Under an order issued on June 24, 2025, Prime Minister’s Office Minister Chusak Sirinil has been appointed Acting Minister of Education, while fellow Minister Jiraporn Sindhuprai will serve as Acting Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.

The Cabinet acknowledged the new order, which updates a previous directive from March 24 that outlined the distribution of ministerial oversight among deputy prime ministers. Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, who had been assigned to oversee key agencies including the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Justice, and the National Security Council, will now also be responsible for the Ministry of Interior.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Suriya Jungrungreangkit, who was already responsible for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and the Ministry of Culture, has been given additional oversight of the Ministry of Labor. He will also serve as Acting Minister for that ministry.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society Prasert Chandraruangthong will expand his supervisory role to include the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, and the Thailand Professional Qualification Institute. He already oversees the Ministry of Public Health and digital governance agencies.

Government Spokesperson Jirayu Houngsub confirmed that no other changes were made to ministerial assignments. All previous orders remain in effect to ensure uninterrupted administration and policy continuity. (NNT)
