
BANGKOK, Thailand – Thai Festival in Moscow 2025 officially opened on 1 August 2025 at Hermitage Garden, drawing over 5,000 enthusiastic visitors on its first day.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony featured Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Moscow Government, Dr. Lalivan Karnchanachari, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sasiwat Wongsinsawat, Thai Ambassador to Russian Federation, Sudrutai Lertkasem, Director-General of the Government Public Relations Department, Theerut Supawiboonphol, Governor of Surat Thani Province, and Decha Pruekpattanarak, Director-General of the Department of Skill Development, Ministry of Labor.
Operating under the theme “Thai Varieties,” the festival showcased the “Playful Thainess” exhibition and featured an NBT WORLD mini-studio where visitors could play a role to be news announcers. The main stage highlighted contemporary dance and Thai boxing demonstrations by Buakaw Banchamek, captivating the packed audience. Cultural activities included DIY Thai sachet making, AI Photo Booth with traditional Thai costumes, Thai dessert tasting, and the “Home Sweet Home” experience recreating contemporary Thai atmospheres. The Government Public Relations Department’s booth alone attracted over 1,500 participants.
Ambassador Sasiwat praised the overwhelming success, noting many vendors sold out on the first day. This 11th annual festival continues promoting Thailand’s soft power, with Russian tourists to Thailand reaching 1,034,759 in the first half of 2025—a 12% increase from last year.
