Police in Sa Kaeo, in coordination with the NBTC, sever 28 main and 7 backup fiber-optic lines near key border checkpoints, aiming to halt communication networks used by scam operators and prevent reconnections.

SA KAEO, Thailand – Police in Sa Kaeo province, working with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), have expanded efforts to disrupt call-center scam operations by severing unauthorized cross-border signal lines. Joint teams inspected areas near key border checkpoints and severed fiber-optic cables believed to support communication between scam networks in Cambodia and contacts inside Thailand.

A total of 28 main lines and four backup lines were disconnected in two locations behind the Ban Khlong Luek Border Railway Station, while three additional lines were removed near the Thai–Cambodian Friendship Bridge crossing at Nong Ian–Stung Bot. Tag seals were placed on the remaining cables to prevent tampering and assist with ongoing monitoring.

Officials say the operation supports a nationwide crackdown on the communication systems used by online scam groups, reaffirming plans to maintain heightened inspections to prevent reconnections and locate any new unauthorized lines. (NNT)
