Thai Army Chief and 2nd Army Region Commander rush to Surin to support soldiers amid border tensions

Army Chief Gen. Pana makes an urgent visit to Surin to support troops and coordinate emergency response amid rising border tensions with Cambodia.

SURIN, Thailand – Gen. Pana Klaewplodtook, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, together with Lt. Gen. Boonsin Padklang, Commander of the 2nd Army Region, and their team flew by helicopter to Tamieng Subdistrict Administrative Organization football field in Phanom Dongrak District, Surin Province on June 23. They visited the border troops to boost morale and held a meeting with relevant officials to prepare for any emergency situations in the area.

After the visit, the Army Chief and his delegation proceeded to the Jomjai Base near Ta Muean Thom Castle, where the media was not allowed to follow. Security remains tight as tensions continue along the Thai-Cambodian border.
