BANGKOK, Thailand – A comprehensive drill was organized to strengthen coordination and readiness for national emergency and humanitarian response efforts.

The Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters is enhancing civil affairs capabilities through a full-scale training exercise titled “GorPorRor.68,” conducted from April 21st–25th, at the 9th Infantry Division in Kanchanaburi Province.

The Civil Affairs Department of the Royal Thai Armed Forces organized the exercise to reinforce humanitarian operations, civilian evacuation procedures, and support for joint civil–military–police missions. The drill featured a complete program, including Table-Top Exercises (TTX), Field-Training Exercises (FTX), and an After Action Review (AAR) to evaluate performance and outcomes.

A key feature of this year’s exercise was the simulation of conflict-driven instability in border areas, including attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The scenario included evacuations, screening of suspects, emergency medical responses, casualty transfers, and temporary shelter management. Over 30 agencies from the civil, military, police, and national security sectors participated, following national defense, disaster response, and emergency public health plans. The joint effort aimed to enhance inter-agency understanding and operational efficiency from peacetime to crisis.

Another highlight was a crisis communication drill, coordinated by the Public Relations Department, simulating a realistic press briefing through a Joint Information Center (JIC). The exercise aimed to build communication skills under pressure and strengthen public confidence.

This initiative represents a critical step in the Royal Thai Armed Forces’ commitment to civil affairs development, ensuring responsive and effective operations in any scenario, contributing to long-term national stability, safety, and public well-being. (NNT)
