Thailand’s Anti-Money Laundering Office is coordinating with U.S. and U.K. authorities after the U.S. DOJ and OFAC targeted Cambodian tycoon Chen Zhi and his network in a massive money laundering and fraud case involving billions in assets.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) on Thursday acknowledged recent reports of asset seizures by the United States and the United Kingdom targeting an alleged transnational scammer network, confirming it is coordinating with international partners on the matter.

The statement follows public reports that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) filed charges against Chen Zhi, also known as Vincent, the founder of the Prince Holding Group, for wire fraud and money laundering. The DOJ is also reportedly seeking civil forfeiture of assets, including cryptocurrencies, estimated to be worth approximately $15 billion.

Additionally, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced financial sanctions against individuals and affiliated companies connected to the same transnational criminal network. Separately, the UK government has reportedly frozen assets related to the criminal group valued at over $120 million.

AMLO stated that it has been coordinating with relevant agencies both domestically and internationally to gather evidence and consider legal action under the Anti-Money Laundering Act.

Regarding the list of names published by the U.S. Treasury Department, AMLO said it will notify reporting entities to monitor, track, and scrutinize for suspicious transactions to be reported to the office. AMLO emphasized that if any money laundering offense is found, it will strictly enforce the law.

AMLO affirmed its commitment to taking action to block money laundering and enhance enforcement measures to rigorously address transnational criminal networks in line with government policy, thereby fully protecting the interests of the nation and the people. (TNA)
