SAMUT SAKHON, Thailand – A shocking accident occurred this morning on Rama 2 Road outbound from Bangkok, when a large chunk of concrete fell and smashed through the windshield of a pickup truck, injuring the male driver. The incident is believed to be linked to the elevated expressway construction project along Rama 2.
According to the Facebook page of the Samut Sakhon Charity Foundation Volunteer Division, the accident was reported at approximately 7:40 AM. Emergency responders from the Srisamut Radio Center were dispatched to the scene near the Rama 2 underpass. They found a pickup truck parked on the right shoulder of the expressway with a severely damaged windshield and an injured male driver inside.
The victim sustained a laceration under his chin and bruises on his chest and left arm from the impact. He reported that while driving normally, a massive piece of concrete suddenly fell onto his vehicle. Emergency teams provided immediate first aid and transported him to Vibharam Samut Sakhon Hospital for further treatment.
Authorities suspect the falling concrete came from the ongoing Rama 2 expressway construction site. The case is now under investigation by the Samut Sakhon Provincial Police.
