BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand is preparing Suvarnabhumi Airport to welcome delegates from 191 countries for the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings, taking place from 12 to 18 October 2026 in Bangkok.

During an inspection on 10 October 2026, officials reviewed international communicable disease screening checkpoints, immigration checkpoints, VIP lounges, and information service points for meeting participants. The delegation also received briefings on preparations and arrangements to facilitate delegates’ arrival in Thailand.

The inspection was led by Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, accompanied by Mr. Lavaron Sangsnit, Permanent Secretary for Finance, Mr. Phanthong Loykulnanta, Director-General of the Customs Department, and representatives of relevant agencies, with members of the press joining the visit.

A day earlier, on 9 October, Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, IMF Managing Director, was welcomed at the Suvarnabhumi Airport VIP lounge by Dr. Ekniti and senior Ministry of Finance officials ahead of the Annual Meetings. (PRD)
