The activity ‘Unique Running Sukhothai Marathon’ was co-organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand Sukhothai Office, the Unique Running Community Organization, and public and private sectors. Sukhothai Governor Piti Kaewsalabsi chaired the opening ceremony.

Objectives of the event are to seek funds for the maintenance of the Sukhothai Historical Park, promote tourism and raise awareness of physical exercise. The marathon consisted of four categories: a marathon, a half marathon, a mini-marathon and a marathon walk.

Non-marathoners can also enjoy other fun-filled activities, such as sightseeing tours on a tram ride and cultural performances, or shop for locally-made products.
