A strong cold front will sweep northern and northeastern Thailand from November 13–21, bringing cooler temperatures and dry conditions for highland areas.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Meteorological Department reported that Thailand’s weather remains unstable over the next 1–2 days due to winds from multiple directions, before a strong cold air mass covers the upper regions of the country from November 13–21. Meanwhile, Typhoon “Fung-Wong” has weakened to a tropical storm and is heading toward Taiwan.

Somkuan Tonjan, director of the Weather Forecasting Division, said that on November 11–12, thunderstorms may occur in some areas, particularly in the northern and upper northeastern regions affected by easterly and northeasterly winds. The Gulf of Thailand continues to experience southerly and southeasterly winds, keeping humidity high and skies mostly cloudy.

Overall, scattered light to moderate rain is expected, with limited water runoff into river basins. Farmers harvesting or drying crops are advised to protect their produce from rain damage. In southern Thailand, isolated heavy rainfall may occur, though waves and winds are beginning to weaken.

From November 13–21, a moderate-to-strong cold air mass from China will continuously cover northern and northeastern Thailand, bringing stronger winds, cooler temperatures, and mostly dry conditions in upper regions. Mountain peaks and highlands will experience chilly weather, offering opportunities for tourists to enjoy cool conditions.

Stronger cold winds combined with low-pressure areas in the south could lead to heavy rainfall in some locations along the Gulf of Thailand.

Typhoon Fung-Wong, having passed the Philippines into the northern South China Sea, has weakened to a strong tropical storm moving north-northeast toward Taiwan, and is expected to weaken further without affecting Thailand’s weather. (TNA)
