BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Minister of Transport Dr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat conducted a field inspection in Si Sa Ket Province to review safety measures for Songkran 2026, focusing on four actions to reduce accidents and improve traffic flow.
On April 12, 2026, the Deputy Minister visited the Si Sa Ket Highway District and a service point at Na Charoen intersection in Khukhan District.
During the visit, authorities outlined the Department of Highways’ operational plan, which focuses on four measures: maintaining roads and lighting; closing high-risk U-turns and intersections in coordination with highway police; restoring road surfaces in construction areas to reduce congestion; and strengthening real-time accident reporting for rapid response. The Department of Highways has implemented a 10-day intensive monitoring period from April 10 to 19, 2026, with staff on standby around the clock.
The Deputy Minister directed all units to halt construction activities that obstruct traffic and restore as much road surface as possible for public use. He thanked frontline officers for their dedication during the holiday and urged motorists to follow traffic laws, especially by avoiding speeding and drunk driving, to ensure safe travel for everyone.
