SISAKET, Thailand – Sisaket Governor Anupong Suksomnit led local officials, village security units, and health volunteers in sending off 105 evacuees returning home on August 10 at Ban Santisuk Community Hall in Kantharalak district.
Officials briefed residents on safety precautions for re-entering their homes, advising them to inspect for damage or hazardous objects and report anything suspicious to local authorities for safe removal.
Governor Anupong thanked all sectors for supporting evacuees since July 24 under the “Baworn” model, which utilized homes, temples, government agencies, and schools as places to provide food, healthcare, safety, and daily essentials.
Before departure, evacuees tied threads around the governor’s wrist in a gesture of appreciation, adding warmth to the send-off as they prepared to resume their lives and tend to property and livestock. Relevant agencies have also been instructed to speed up damage assessments and compensation payments. (NNT)
