Sa Kaeo – Sa Kaeo province held a religious ceremony Friday to complement the collection of royal funeral flower ashes.

Governor Pornpoth Penpas presided over the procession to transfer the royal funeral flower ashes from the royal crematorium replica at the Sa Kaeo Provincial Administrative Organization to Tha Kabak reservoir. Residents gathered at the reservoir in large numbers to witness the ash-spreading rite.

His Majesty King Rama IX on February 24, 1978 suggested that Tha Kabak reservoir be built to ensure irrigation throughout the year and revive the devastated Piedmont forest. Construction was completed in 1979, during which year His Majesty also visited the project site.

The reservoir, with a capacity of 8.30 million cubic meters, supplies water to 4,000 rai of farms.
