Royal Thai Army showing support to Muslim community in the holy month of Ramadan

BANGKOK, 19 June 2015 – To show his support to Thai Muslims during the fasting period, Army Commander General Udomdej Sitabutr is visiting Thailand’s restive south to provide healthy food and other necessities to the Thai Muslim community during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to International Security Command Operation (ISOC) Spokesperson Colonel Banpot Poonpian, the Army Chief will also visit the army units in the Deep South during his trip to show moral support to the Thai Muslims.

The Thai authorities in the areas have also organized a Lamad Sunat ceremony, and vowed to refrain from all vices alongside the Thai Muslim community.

Meanwhile, Fourth Region Army Commander Lieutenant Prakarn Cholayut has also visited the Central Islamic Council of Thailand, Yala’s Office, and presented palm dates, rice and beverages to the council officials, to show his support to the Thai Muslims during the fasting period.
