BANGKOK, 8 August 2012  – Her Majesty Queen Sirikit has granted the 2012 Mother’s Day slogan emphasizing tender efforts and attention a mother has made in raising her children.

Each year, Her Majesty, who has been regarded as the Mother of the Land, graciously gives a mother’s day slogan which will be published in a book issued by the National Council on Social Welfare of Thailand.

This year, Her Majesty the Queen put the slogan into a Thai poem of 4 lines. The poem says, ‘The hands of mothers are like the hands of sculptors. Mothers carefully mould their little children into beautiful persons with the hopes of seeing them growing to be good and well-polished. Like sculptors, mothers stay around their children to softly mould their temperament bit by bit’.

The National Mother’s Day falls on August 12, which is HM the Queen’s birthday.
