PTT calls for legal reforms to boost Carbon Capture and Storage investment in Thailand

Dr. Kongkrapan Intarajang, CEO of PTT, highlights the crucial role of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in Thailand’s net-zero strategy, urging government law amendments to support the technology as global CCS projects surge.

BANGKOK, Thailand – PTT has identified Carbon Capture and Storage as vital for Thailand’s net-zero goals, urging the government to amend laws to facilitate investment in the technology.

Dr. Kongkrapan Intarajang, CEO and President of PTT Public Company Limited, made the statements at the Business forum Decode 2025: The Mid-Year Signal. He projected that over 500 new CCS projects will be launched globally in the next five years.



Dr. Kongkrapan stated that the global energy direction must balance security, sustainability, and affordability. He noted that while some nations may adjust their pace, major global energy firms remain committed to achieving net-zero emissions.

He also forecasted that over the next two to three decades, the transition to clean energy will continue to grow but will still represent less than 20 percent of the total energy supply. (NNT)
