Prime Minister calls for speedy development in rural provinces

BANGKOK– Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has ordered provincial authorities to revise development plans in line with national strategies.

The prime minister convened a meeting with local government authorities on Friday to go over the 2019 development plan focusing on wealth distribution in the eastern region and five southern border provinces.

Gen Prayut asked local officials to bolster investments and business activities in their cities, improve competitiveness, close social gaps, and speed up development in all areas.

He stated that the development plan for each province must be in compliance with the country’s 20-year strategy while ordering the Ministry of the Interior, the National Economic and Social Development Board, the Budget Bureau, and the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission to draw up a framework as guidance for local governments.
