BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has presided over the royal cremation ceremony for Private Thanaphat Nanthawong at Wat Chuak Nok in Amnat Charoen province, with senior government and defense officials, civil servants, and members of the public in attendance.

Private Thanaphat served with the 3rd Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, King’s Guard, and was killed while carrying out security duties along the Thai–Cambodian border in Ban Nong Chan in Sa Kaeo province.

After the ceremony, Anutin met with the soldier’s family to express condolences and pay tribute to his service and sacrifice. He said the loss underscored the risks faced by troops stationed along the border.

Anutin also addressed the broader border situation, saying a ceasefire agreement has been signed and that conditions remain calm, with no unusual developments reported. He said his recent visits to Ta Kwai Prasat and Hill 350 allowed him to speak directly with deployed troops and observe that their morale remains strong.

The prime minister added that the government will continue to support military personnel through welfare and care measures. Anutin also said that damage to structures in border areas can be restored through coordination with relevant agencies, while stressing that the recovery and protection of the entire national territory remain priorities. (NNT)
