Rayong – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha paid a visit to the Wang Chan Valley project in Rayong this week, the home of the Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation (EECi).
The EECi development zone is located in a 3,000-rai area of Wang Chan Valley which is to be the location for research and development in technology and innovation. The EECi is expected to be fully open in 2023, serving as a new learning center and incubator of new scientists, while at the same time provide benefits to local communities.
Two educational institutes, namely Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology and Kamnoetvidya Science Academy, have been established in the area to provide world-class education in science and technology, helping create new researchers, engineers, and scientists.
Students at Kamnoetvidya Science Academy will receive high school scholarships from PTT Group, while Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology provides graduate programs in advanced sciences and technology. The institute anticipates to rank among the world’s top 50 universities in 20 years time.
