PM visits deep South to follow up on situation

PATTANI, 29 April 2012  – The Prime Minister visited Pattani province to follow up on the situation on the southern violence as well as the implementation of measures to protect the lives and property of local residents. 

Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Yuthasak Sasiprapa and Army Chief Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra was given a warm welcome by the local residents in the violence-stricken province. The PM reassured them that all relevant authorities are determined to resolve the southern unrest. She explained that HM the King’s advice has been applied to the government’s working strategies in order to fully understand and hear out public opinions before the right development is taken. Additionally, she reiterated that the government will bring peace to the area and develop the economy and other aspects of the society in order to create income for the well-being and stability of the people.

The PM, then, met with local religious leaders to discuss possible ways to create peace in the deep South. She also took this opportunity to follow up on investigations into the explosions in Yala province and Hat Yai district on March 31, as well as deliver government policies to local authorities in charge of security matters.
