BANGKOK, 9 January 2013  Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has urged Thai students to ready themselves for the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015 by learning about the cultures and the languages of other ASEAN member nations.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Tuesday delivered a speech to the students who visited the premier on the occasion of the National Children’s Day. She said children are the vital forces for the country’s development; therefore, she would like to see them as role models for one another.

Ms Yingluck also urged them to seek knowledge to cope with the fast-changing world, and learn English and other foreign languages to prepare for the AEC.

This year’s children’s day motto is “Uphold Discipline, Enhance Knowledge and Bring Thailand towards ASEAN.” She explained that youths must respect themselves, their families, and society, adding that family and society are fundamental to the development of children.

The National Children’s Day is on January 12th this year.
