PM to join UN disaster risk reduction meeting in Japan

BANGKOK, 12 March 2015 – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha will be leaving for Japan tomorrow to take part in the third United Nations World Conference in Disaster Risk Reduction.

General Prayut will be witnessing the opening ceremony of the third United Nations World Conference in Disaster Risk Reduction at Sendai International Center in Sendai City, where he is scheduled to have bilateral talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon.

The Third United Nations World Conference in Disaster Risk Reduction provides a platform for member nations to evaluate their achievement in the disaster risk reduction stated in Hyogo Framework for Action 2005-2015, and to discuss the development of disaster risk reduction plans for the next 15 years.

Accompanying PM Prayut will be Interior Minister General Anupong Paochinda and Public Health Minister Dr. Ratchada Ratchatanawin. Both will be participating in sideline activities.
