PM to consider establishing new university in Prachuab

BANGKOK, 29 Mar 2015, The Province of Prachuab Kirikhan (ประจวบคีรีขันธ์) is proposing to the Cabinet its plan to establish a new university during the latter’s mobile meeting in Hua Hin (หัวหิน) District.

According to the provincial administration, the new university will be built on a 900-rai piece of land in Bornok (บ่อนอก) District. The officials said that the new university would give local students an opportunity to receive higher education without leaving their hometown.

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha acknowledged the proposal and assigned the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Interior to conduct a feasibility study of the proposed plan. He said the establishment would mark His Majesty the King’s 90th birthday anniversary. The project is to be implemented between 2015 – 2017.

The university would offer all mandatory curricula with alternative subjects that focus on agriculture, His Majesty the King’s sufficiency economy philosophy and vocational education, as well as tourism and hotel management.
