BANGKOK, 3 August 2015 – The government has inaugurated a new market along Phadung Krung Kasem Canal in which visitors can shop for a wide array of Mother’s Day presents.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over the opening ceremony for the market, which is set to run for three weeks from August 3 to 23 under the title “Creative Industry: Gifts for Mom”. Coinciding with the National Mother’s Day and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s birthday on August 12, the market also features a special exhibition in honor of all mothers. Participants are welcome to sign well wishes for Her Majesty the Queen as well.

Products available to shoppers at the event are divided into three categories. Fashion and textile products, including such traditional items as Jok cloth and Praewa silk, can be found in the first week while motherhood products, including lactation supplements and weight control products, will be offered in the second week. In the final week, there will be home decorative items and wooden furniture on offer.

The Gifts for Mom market is the latest event under the government’s ongoing campaign to stimulate the Thai economy through a series of activities along Phadung Krung Kasem Canal adjacent to Government House.
