PM Anutin reassures the public that Thailand will not yield if Cambodian troops obstruct mine clearance operations and urges confidence in the Thai Army’s readiness to safeguard national security.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has assured the public that Thailand will not yield if Cambodian troops attempt to obstruct mine clearance operations in the Chong Sai Taku area of Buriram Province.

Speaking on reports of Cambodian interference, Anutin clarified that ongoing coordination and meetings with Cambodian authorities are part of regular procedures. “It won’t be smooth, but the objectives must be clear. We will not yield. To achieve peace and stability, four key conditions must be met: weapons withdrawal, mine clearance, addressing scammer networks, and resolving overlapping territorial claims,” he said.

On concerns about reports that Cambodia had moved heavy weapons into the area, Anutin dismissed such claims, stating that both sides have agreed to withdraw forces and any violations would be treated according to the agreement.

Regarding Thailand’s repositioning of its own forces to Lopburi Province, he reaffirmed that the military is fully capable of redeploying if needed, urging the public to have confidence in the Thai Army’s ability to protect the country. He also noted that he would personally visit the border if necessary to monitor compliance with the agreements. (TNA)
