BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul expressed his sympathy for former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra following a Supreme Court ruling sentencing him to one year in prison. Speaking at the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters, Anutin said briefly, “I am saddened, and I feel for him.”
He added that he did not wish for someone of Thaksin’s experience and stature—having once led the country—to face such circumstances.
During the press interaction, the prime minister appeared visibly emotional, with a hushed tone, as he addressed questions regarding Thaksin’s legal situation.
