Phuket – Customs officers in Phuket have incinerated over 3,000 items violating intellectual property with a combined value of close to 2 million baht.

Customs Officer Kanchana Suwanicho led members of her office and the media in witnessing the burn-off in Phuket City Municipal Authority’s new incinerator. Over 3,000 products were seized due to their avoidance of customs duties and violations of intellectual property and trademarks. Their total face value was 1.8 million baht.

Goods included clothing, hats, hand bags, watches, belts, shoes and contraband including electric cigarettes and hookahs. All the items were destroyed by hand before being run over by a steamroller to ensure their easy incineration and complete destruction.
