Phuket International Airport clarified that Etihad Airways flight EY 416 landed safely on January 14 after encountering turbulence, with no injuries reported and airport operations unaffected.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Phuket International Airport (HKT) has clarified reports circulating online regarding Etihad Airways flight EY 416 on the Abu Dhabi–Phuket route that encountered turbulence on January 14, 2026.

The airport reported that at 11:00 A.M., its medical services were notified by the airline about the turbulence. The airport activated emergency protocols, coordinated with the Narenthorn Emergency Medical Center and partner networks, prepared parking bay No. 15, and deployed emergency and ground staff to assist passengers and crew.



The aircraft landed at Phuket International Airport at 11:50 A.M. After on-site checks and initial assistance, authorities confirmed that no passengers or crew were injured. Authorities stated that the incident did not affect operations or services at the airport.

HKT emphasized that passenger safety and reassurance remain its highest priorities. The airport maintains emergency readiness in accordance with established plans and conducts regular drills to ensure effective responses in line with international aviation standards.

The airport also expressed gratitude to partner hospitals and rescue organizations for their readiness and support in this incident. (NNT)
