Thailand’s national parks welcomed more than 500,000 visitors over New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, with strong turnout, over 13.5 million baht in service-related revenue, and enhanced safety measures in place nationwide.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The National Parks of Thailand released a report on tourism in national parks during the New Year holiday from December 31, 2025, to January 1, 2026. Natural attractions were lively, with 500,187 visitors nationwide: 229,326 on New Year’s Eve and 270,861 on New Year’s Day.

Even with free entry for Thai visitors and vehicles from December 31, 2025, to January 4, 2026, 107 national parks still collected service-related fees, bringing in over 13.57 million baht. This reflects the continued popularity of conservation-based tourism among the public.

To ensure safety and support, 156 national parks activated facilitation and emergency centers, with park officials on high alert. Over the two days, 43 accidents and medical emergencies occurred, all of which were met with swift first aid and prompt coordination with medical facilities.

Emergency responses included using automated external defibrillators and CPR to assist an unconscious visitor at Doi Suthep–Pui National Park. They also aided road accident victims and those with medical needs at Doi Inthanon, Phu Ruea, and Tham Pla–Namtok Pha Suea National Parks, reflecting a proactive approach to safety.

On January 1, 2026, the five national parks with the highest visitor numbers were Khao Yai National Park, Doi Inthanon National Park, Khlong Lan National Park, Phu Laen Kha National Park, and Erawan National Park.

The Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation expressed gratitude to visitors for traveling responsibly. They encouraged future guests to plan routes, strictly follow officials’ advice, and share underlying medical conditions with staff before entering the park to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
