BANGKOK, 15 February 2013 In an effort to find solutions to the police station construction scandal, the Royal Thai Police has invited police chiefs from 396 stations to attend a meeting to exchange ideas on the issue.

According to National Pol Chief Gen Adul Sangsingkaew, over 650 police commanders of various branches have been made aware of the Office’s current problems with PCC Development and Construction Co Ltd., the construction company that was awarded the contract but failed to finish the constructions of the 396 police stations across Thailand.

All the police commanders have reportedly been told to make the most of their stations while the problems are being solved. The stations should be kept clean, in good condition, and able to provide services to all the people.

300,000 baht will be given to each of the stations that has been demolished; stations abandoned by construction sub-contractors will be given 100,000 baht each.

The National Police Chief added later that the contract with PCC Development and Construction will be terminated and new contractors will be hired as soon as possible. Meanwhile, the damage that occurred as a result of the the scandal is still being assessed at present.
