Bhumjaithai unveils new coalition lineup as defecting MPs from Pheu Thai and Democrats join forces.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Bhumjaithai Party welcomed new coalition partners as MPs from various factions joined a press conference to announce the formation of a new government, September 3. Key groups led by Suchart Chomklin, Capt. Thammanat Prompao, and Santi Promphat were present, along with “cobras” — defecting MPs from Pheu Thai and the Democrat Party.

At 11:00 a.m., MPs began arriving at Bhumjaithai headquarters. Suchart, representing 18 MPs from the United Thai Nation Party, led the first group. Notably absent were MPs loyal to Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, party leader of United Thai Nation, who did not participate.

Palang Pracharath Party representatives followed, led by Chaimongkol Chairorb, MP for Sakon Nakhon and deputy party leader, along with deputy leader Santi Promphat and a group of Phetchabun MPs.

Next came Kla Tham Party, headed by party adviser Capt. Thammanat Prompao, accompanied by party leader Narumon Pinyosinwat, secretary-general Phai Lik, registrar Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn, and other core members. Several small parties also joined the session.

In a surprise move, defecting MPs from Pheu Thai and the Democrat Party were also spotted, including Saksada Wichiensilp (Pheu Thai, Kanchanaburi), Nuchanat Jaruwongsethian (Pheu Thai, Sisaket), Somyos Plaiduang (Democrat, Songkhla), and Sanphet Boonyaman (Democrat, Songkhla). Their appearance marked the first official acknowledgment of cross-party defections to support a Bhumjaithai-led government.

This press conference was the first public confirmation of MPs crossing the aisle after weeks of speculation. (TNA)
