AYUTTHAYA, 14 June 2015 – Ten farmers in Ayutthaya Province will present 6,990 kgs of rice crops harvested from the King’s piece of land to the Palace at the end of this month as a show of their gratitude to the royal benevolence and advice.

Chief of Ayutthaya Agricultural Extension Office Paisarn Sungmongkol said the 10 farmers will be received in audience with Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn who will represent His Majesty the King, at Chitralada Palace on 30 June. They will report the progress of their use of the land and seek royal advice on paddy farming.

Mr.Paisarn said that previously His Majesty the King granted permission to the 10 farmers to use a seven-rai plot of royal land in Thung Makham Yong area for growing Pathumthani 1 Rice. “A total of 6,990 kilograms of rice were harvested last September from the royal lands, and the farmers wished to dedicate the rice to the palace,” said Mr.Paisarn.

He added that His Majesty the King has permitted the group of farmers to continue rice planting on his lands every year. For the 2015 planting season, the farmers used the direct paddy seeder planting technique which allowed them to gain higher productivity using less seeds. This technique also consumed less fertilizer and less efforts in pest control, but give ouputs of higher quality.
