BANGKOK, 26 June 2014 – The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will implement new regulations on van service in the capital on July 1st.

Van operators providing passenger service in the vicinity of the Victory Monument are required by the date to refrain from parking for extended time at the unloading zone, and instead, to just pick up passengers and leave. All vans must also share only one ticket stall at a specified point, settle a permanent location of van station, and to register their vehicles with the authorities before resuming their service.

The new regulations, which will be implemented on July 1st, are aimed at reorganising passenger van services which are plying 59 routes around the area, eliminating bribery, while reducing traffic congestion during rush hours.
