BANGKOK, 12 August 2015 – Members of the public across Thailand have participated in mass alms-making ceremonies in honor of Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday anniversary.

In the North, provincial governors in Nongbua Lamphu, Surin and Lamphun led local people in an alms-giving ceremony and a ceremony to release fish back into their natural habitat. The ceremony was also attended by civil servants, police officers and members of the private sector.

Nakhon Si Thammarat residents also joined in a merit-making ceremony, held in the province’s major park. Well-wishers in Narathiwat meanwhile gathered at the city hall to honor the occasion. Many have also donated blood to mark Mother’s Day this year.

In the capital, Bangkok Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra led city officials in an alms-giving ceremony in the morning before making preparations for a candle-lighting ceremony held in the evening.
