Mental health dept rehabilitates political victims

BANGKOK, 29 June 2014 (NNT) – The Department of Mental Health has voiced its support for the reconciliation process and pledged assistance for people who were mentally affected by the political problems.

Deputy Director-General of the Department of Mental Health MD Panpimon Wipulakorn said the department was tasked by the National Council for Peace and Order with rehabilitating those who had been directly affected by the political problems and their families. The department’s Mental Health Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (MCATT) was monitoring the mental health of over 863 affected people in order to make sure that they would lead a normal life after rehabilitation, she said.

The deputy director-general added that she believed everyone wanted to see reform and changes for the better. MD Panpimon encouraged people who wanted advice to contact the department’s hotline 1323 operating around the clock.
