LAMPANG, 23 November 2013 Lampang City authorities have ordered a suspension of activities at a 3-storey shop house that was engulfed in flames while being used as a movie set for a Hollywood film, after finding that the structure had been compromised.

Lampang City Mayor Kittiphum Namwong revealed that officials have reported the results of their investigation of the shop house in Soptui sub-district, Lampang City, which was conducted after Wednesday’s fire.

Mr. Kittiphum said engineers from the municipality will conduct a thorough inspection of the damages to the building, which was built more than 30 years ago. He said officials will also consider the fact that the structure was in the middle of a densely populated area. He added the police were still carrying out their investigation into the cause of the fire.

The building was being used as a set for the Hollywood film “The Coup”, which stars Pierce Brosnan and Owen Wilson.
