King Bhumibol sends condolences to China over Yunnan Quake

BANGKOK, 5 August 2014  – His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej has sent a message of condolence to the President of the People’s Republic of China, expressing his sympathy over the loss of lives and property due to severe earthquake that hit southwest China’s Yunnan province on August 3.

The Office of His Majesty’s Principal Private Secretary said the royal letter had been forwarded to the Chinese leader via the Thai Embassy in Beijing. The letter said Their Majesties the King and Queen were deeply saddened by the news of the earthquake that killed a lot of people and injured many others. The quake also caused heavy damage to property and infrastructure in the People’s Republic of China.

Their Majesties extended their heartfelt sympathy to the Chinese President and to all those who have suffered loss and bereavement in this natural disaster.
