BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva participated in an IMF CSR activity at the Bo Farang Rim Nam Phatthana Community on October 11, 2026, ahead of the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings in Thailand from October 12 to 18.

Social Development and Human Security Minister Nikorn Soemklang, Bank of Thailand Governor Vitai Ratanakorn, and Community Organizations Development Institute Board Chairman Dr. Kobsak Pootrakool also attended the activity. The event was organized by the Ministry of Finance, IMF, Bank of Thailand, and public- and private-sector partners to support community development and education.

A key project involves renovating the Bo Farang Community Learning Center. The IMF is providing funding and technology equipment, while Thai partners, including the C-Asean Foundation and other organizations, are supporting facility and learning environment improvements. The center aims to expand access to education, skills development, and technology for children and young people.

Ekniti stated that the visit reflects a central theme of the meetings: creating opportunities and strengthening resilience amid change. He highlighted secure housing, household food production, mushroom cultivation for supplementary income, and access to education as practical foundations for stronger families and communities.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that achieving sustainable development requires cooperation among government, the private sector, international partners, and community members. (NNT)
