Area Hindus marked one of their most-important weeks of the year at the Pattaya Floating Market Tuesday and helped raise funds for the city’s grand Ganesha festival this summer.

March 24 marked the start of the new year in various Hindu sects and the Ganesh Deva Club celebrated four festivals at the market.

The event was also used as a fundraiser for the Ganesh Chaturthi, the celebration of the god’s birthday, which will begin in Jomtien Beach in August and run through Sept. 10.
