PATTAYA, Thailand – Tourist Police have intensified security measures at Suvarnabhumi Airport during the Songkran holiday period, aiming to boost confidence among travelers as passenger traffic surges.

According to Pol. Maj. Gen. Pongsayam Meekhanthong, Deputy Commissioner of the Tourist Police, strict operational measures have been put in place to closely monitor safety conditions at the airport, one of the country’s main international gateways. He emphasized the importance of continuous and proactive enforcement to ensure a safe and smooth travel experience for both Thai and international visitors.


Officers from Division 3 of the Tourist Police Bureau 1 have been deployed throughout the airport, working alongside multilingual interpreters to assist travelers. The teams are tasked with providing guidance, ensuring safety, and maintaining a friendly and professional presence at all times.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Pongsayam Meekhanthong leads enhanced safety measures to boost confidence among arriving and departing tourists.

Key measures include increased patrols in high-traffic areas, proactive assistance services for tourists, and the promotion of the Thailand Tourist Police Application, which allows users to request help 24 hours a day.


Authorities have also been conducting on-site outreach at major service points within the airport, including international baggage claim areas, to introduce the application and reinforce awareness that Thai Tourist Police are ready to assist visitors at every step throughout the festive period.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure safety and convenience during Songkran, one of Thailand’s busiest travel seasons. (TNA)
