BANGKOK, Thailand – The Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) has reported that air quality remains poor across parts of northern and northeastern Thailand, with high to very high levels of particulate matter recorded in multiple provinces.
Data released at 8 a.m. today (Apr 16) showed the highest readings in Bueng Kan, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Mae Hong Son, Nan, Chiang Mai, Lampang, Lamphun, Phrae, and Nong Bua Lamphu. Conditions in these areas continue to pose health concerns as dust levels remain above standard limits.
Bangkok, however, reported good air quality across all areas. The Thai Meteorological Department said dust and haze continue to accumulate across the North, Northeast, and upper Central regions due to a high number of hotspot areas exceeding the atmosphere’s ability to disperse pollutants.
Authorities are advising the public to limit time spent outdoors and to wear N95 masks for protection, as elevated pollution levels persist in affected regions. (NNT)
