A 73-piece underwater sculpture of Hanuman has been installed at Siam Bay near Racha Yai Island in Phuket, where it will serve as an artificial reef, coral restoration site and future centerpiece of an underwater art museum inspired by the Ramayana epic.

PHUKET, Thailand – A 73-piece underwater sculpture of the deity Hanuman, a key character from the Ramayana epic has been completed at Siam Bay, Racha Yai Island, serving as a new hub for coral restoration and eco-tourism.

The “Magical of Save Underwater World” project, a collaboration between Thai and South Korean Rotary Districts, was installed between April 11 and 15.

The site features a massive Hanuman figure and 3D-printed coral-shaped structures resting at a depth of 19 meters.

Project chairman Sasawat Limpanich said the structures will provide a “new home” for marine life, allowing coral to attach and flourish.

The installation is the first phase of a planned “Underwater Art Museum” that will later include other characters from the epic, including Phra Ram (Rama), Thotsakan (Ravana), and Suvannamaccha to create a world-class diving landmark. (TNA)
