Lunch or lottery? That was the question when bemused residents on Soi Khao Noi found a giant mushroom growing wild.
The fat fungi in Rungruang Park measured nearly 30cm tall and had a 26cm stem. Twenty-six smaller toadstools were growing nearby.
Kanoknart Sevisit, 17, said she called relatives over to see the mushroom after she discovered it.
They were unsure of its exact name but most were pretty sure they could eat it for lunch. Others, however, wanted to save the ‘shroom, believing it could divine lucky lottery numbers.
Soi Khao Noi residents measure the gigantic mushroom before chopping it up for dinner.
In the end, the hungry prevailed over the superstitious and the mushroom was chopped up and divided for the day’s meal.
