BANGKOK, 14 June 2014  – Chief of National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Prayuth Chan-ocha says an interim government will be set up in the month of September.

According to Gen Prayuth, the power will be handed down to a government in September or October at the very latest , which is part of the military government’s three-stage plan for reconciliation, formation of a government and elections.

Gen Prayuth also made a wide range of promises to make the economy more efficient, streamline energy policy and improve the lives of Thais. He, however, pleaded for more time to achieve the military’s aims.

He expected a temporary constitution to be drafted within three months’ time, and a new general election could be staged within a year.
