BANGKOK, Thailand – The Fourth Army Area has issued a clarification regarding information circulating online about a recent visit by senior military officials to Koh Samui and Koh Phangan in Surat Thani province, affirming that the situation has been misinterpreted.
The statement followed social media claims suggesting that foreign nationals were directing Thai officials during the visit. Military representatives said the information does not accurately represent the events and provided additional context to clarify the circumstances.
According to Fourth Army Area Spokesperson Maj Gen Yutthanam Phetmuang, the regional commander’s visit was an official inspection of security operations in key tourist areas, with discussions focused on public safety, tourism-related concerns, and coordination with local agencies. The visit included exchanges with community representatives to support mutual understanding and cooperation.
Officials also explained that images showing interactions with Israeli individuals captured an informal exchange with community religious and spiritual leaders. The setting portrayed a respectful dialogue rather than any formal authority structure. The Fourth Army Area reaffirmed that all operations are carried out in accordance with the law and encouraged the public to rely on verified information to maintain clarity and public confidence.
