PHETCHABURI, Thailand – Continuous heavy rain flooded several underpasses along Phetkasem Road in Phetchaburi on October 11, leaving them impassable and causing traffic to slow on the southbound carriageway. Motorists faced delays as drivers approaching the flooded sections turned back or sought alternative routes. Water levels at several underpasses rose too high for vehicles to pass safely, prompting warnings against attempting to drive through the floodwater.

Drivers were advised to avoid flooded underpasses, as entering deep water could cause engines to stall and put motorists at risk. Authorities also urged road users to exercise extra caution on wet surfaces and maintain greater distances from vehicles ahead. Sudden braking and turning movements were another concern, particularly where motorists slowed or made U-turns to avoid flooded areas.

Drivers were advised to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra travel time and use alternative routes where appropriate. Motorists travelling through the affected area were urged not to risk crossing flooded underpasses, even if the water appeared passable.
